I'm living in isle of dogs. These pictures were taken in Millwall park, on my way back home. Isle of dogs is a very interesting small island. One side is brand new, busy and highly developed business center, but other side is traditional farms and quiet residential area. Millwall park connects these two totally different life styles together. I enjoy the experience of walking across the park, it feels like walking across different cities or ages. Standing in the park center, I see the buildings growing behind the bush and woods, hearing the voice of development. I don't know what this man is thinking at the moment, but standing in front of canary wharf his shadow looks tiny and a little lonely.
I get this idea when seeing the icon of “broken link image” on internet. “broken link” is a pun: * the internet icon --- broken link of online images * broken link between people I use the concept to express that technology may bring negative effects to interpersonal communication, it may isolate us from each other if we indulge ourselves in it or use it improperly.
The project aims to reveal the comparison of communication via technology methods and nature ways. And meantime, it also conveys the concept of slow life. (people have to read the texts slow and patiently ) I went to the 3D work shop to finish the wooden shelf part. Then I can spend more time concentrating on the texts part. In stead of creating pictures in the computer, I enjoy the process so much of making "real" stuffs in the work shop.
I bought several cassettes from a vintage shop. In order to make them look the same then I polished off the words printed on the covers.
After presenting the cassette project in the studio last week, I got a very good suggestion that supplying audience tools to rotate the tapes. I found some nice ideas and tutorials for reference.
It's the work I made for January's show. pls click here for details And now I tried to improve it to a video work. It's my first time to make frame-by-frame animation. I painted a lot, it needs great patience, but it's really funny. For reference: Taking pictures of glass shadows in reality The process of pouring wine to be continue...
A Good Deed Project

“The world around you is the real 3D world.”
Greenwich / The Royal Observatory
Nice weather!
There are two telescopes on top of Greenwich Royal Observatory park
where people can get a great bird view of London.
I took pictures before the telescope...
so the following picture is the view people can see through the telescope
or standing at the location where telescope is set.
I mixed the pictures into one 3D picture, with the help of 3D glasses.
Then I also tried other buildings / landscapes, like big ben.
And I found buildings with sharp shape can get better 3D effects.
With the same time technology brings us benefits it also brings problems. And, after all we are living in a real world. The true world around us is real 3D. We can feel wind and sunshine in this real 3D world. So enjoy it. 幻 灯片 8
Society development, especially technology progress has brought gigantic changes to our life. It does offer quicker, easier and more efficient communication methods. But meantime, it also brings problems like global flows of business, fast-food life style, mass and speedy information communication which may blind our senses, disconnect us from each other and keep good balance of our life. During my MA study in CCA I focused on the negative effects of communication brought by such a development. And I want to introduce the concept of slow, which is a kind of green life style, rather than low efficiency or against development. I hope my research and works can be helpful to deliver this healthy life concept among people especially who live under pressure of fast paced modern life.
